Repotting,

Well it's not to early now, now is the time to be thinking about it, and getting prepared for the fun, In some temperature zones there is repotting done all year. The way we tell if it is repotting time is when the buds on the deciduous trees start to swell and just before they burst into leaf. After they leaf out is to late.

Repotting has many benefits; all of the benefits help to maintain the health of the Bonsai. Replenishes the nutrients with fresh soil, Root pruning when repotting gives room for the roots to grow, and many other reasons. Every healthy bonsai will fill its container with roots. How fast depends on the tree, it’s health, what growing stage it is in, it’s growing program, soil mix, and more. Our rule is a tree in the growing stage should be transplanted once a year, a mature Bonsai, about once every two years. After repotting we like to give the Bonsai a dose of Superthrive to help with the shock, and aids in the rapid return to growth in the spring.

When buying Bonsai Soil, be sure to check if it is being sold by the pound or quantity. You will find if sold by the pound when wet you will get less because it will weigh more when wet
